You may transfer the package to an alternative customer free of charge.

Cancellation over 30 days before departure: if the full sum has been paid, all but the 30% deposit is refunded. 30 to 20 days before departure: 50% of the full cost of the tour is refunded. 20 to 0 days before departure, or failure to meet up for departure: no refund.

It is your responsibility to ensure we know for sure about your cancellation request. Sending an email is not enough, you must also get a response from us if you hope for a partial refund.

For the 2 and 3 day safaris a minimum of 2 people is needed for a trip to go ahead, and anything longer generally runs with a minimum of 4. A private safari is normally charged for 4 at minimum, or a full safari during the busiest weeks.

Most wilderness cabins comfortably sleep 6 (our Palojoki trappers cabin takes 8), so 6 is generally the maximum on individually booked longer tours. Larger family groups of up to 9 pax who accept a little less personal space can be accommodated on request, though this may limit route and cabin options.

Absolutely. A private safari or a higher guide:client ratio gives us more flexibility to tailor the product to you, in cabin types and sizes, terrain, and total days on the tundra versus the taiga. Private tours are charged for a minimum of 4 pax in the non-peak season (the last two weeks of the season) and 6 pax through the rest. You can make a private booking at any time by booking the equivalent of 6 places on any multiday tour.

Children used to being active, outdoors and pleasant in adult company are welcome on safari. We have had children as young as 7 sled to our overnight wilderness cabin and children as young as 12 on our 5-day wilderness tour. Know your child's interests and capabilities well, and time it carefully. We are far more likely to agree to a child in April, when conditions are much less extreme, than in February.

Either Anna or one of the Hetta Husky guides will greet and guide you. Our team generally includes fluent (native) Finnish, English, German and French speakers, and fairly often Dutch/Flemish, Spanish and Russian. For shorter tours, tell us of any language requirements in advance.

Not included: travel insurance, miscellaneous expenses, alcoholic drinks, souvenirs, and optional extras such as reindeer or snowmobile safaris on your free days (we can help organise these at no extra cost).
