A holistic responsibility
Clients need a reliable, affordable and sustainable service. Staff need a stable company with sound, open management. Local people need to trust us to manage our dogs responsibly, prevent escapes and stay for the long term. And our dogs, with no say in what happens to them, deserve the best home, working life and retirement we can deliver.
WWF principles and benchmarking
From the early days we have aligned the business with the WWF's 10 Principles for Arctic Tourism and the Leave No Trace principles, benchmarking constantly against emerging standards and quality processes.
WWF's 10 Principles for Arctic Tourism (selected)
1. Make tourism and conservation compatible. 2. Support the preservation of wilderness and biodiversity. 3. Use natural resources in a sustainable way, since developed areas can never be returned to their original state. 4. Minimise consumption, waste and pollution. The principles continue across conservation, culture and local benefit.
Building Regional CapacityWhy we volunteer up to 40 hours a month on EU and municipality projects to grow tourism for the whole region, not just our own business.
Cultural IntegrityHow we work co-operatively with the Saami and Finnish communities of a complex frontier region and help clients understand its culture and politics.
