A Day in the Life of a Husky Guide
A full day mentored by an experienced guide - a real, behind-the-scenes taste of life on an Arctic husky farm.
Our short experiential guide-training packages run from 1 day to 1 week, year-round except the peak months of December and February. The '1 day in the life of a husky guide' is most popular in Autumn, a very dog-intensive season.

What the day involves
The day begins with morning soup for the dogs and pooping the farm, meeting the dogs as you go (skip this part if you prefer). Expect to spend most of the day outside, dressed for the elements and tired by the end, with a real connection to the dogs to show for it.

Training and tasks
Most of the day goes on agility, obedience and conditioning training with the quad or sleighs, in a season when groups of dogs often train 12 to 20km per day. You will learn to handle and train the dogs, socialise the pups, keep their environment healthy and feed 100+ adults and pups 2 to 3 times per day, with lunch and stories in the guide house. In snow season, we make sure you get to mush.
