Evening snowmobile tours into the wilderness in search of the northern lights, or aurora-viewing in a heated bubble sleigh.
Snowmobiles are a quick, easy way to get out into the middle of nowhere in search of the elusive northern lights, and we maintain several good trails near our base for just this purpose. By night the focus is on hunting the lights, finding a good spot and relaxing a while to enjoy them.
Some of the best aurora photos are taken from the far side of Lake Ounasjärvi, looking north. We cannot guarantee the aurora, of course, but even on a quiet night riding the snowmobiles across the frozen landscape is a great time.
Available through the winter. Distance and c. duration: 20km and a c. 1.5 hr safari. Shared snowmobile €100 pp, solo snowmobile €165, children / adults pulled in a snowmobile sleigh €80. Includes a helmet, the snowmobile / sleigh as appropriate, driving instructions and a guide on a lead snowmobile. Snowmobile clothing and boots rent for €5/piece, with gloves / mitts / hats / buffs €2.50 each. A minimum of 4 people is needed (you can cover the price for 4 pax to make sure the tour runs).
