Adopt or Sponsor a Husky

Adopt or Sponsor a Husky

Our adoption and sponsorship programmes let you support a dog's lifelong care, part of our commitment to never put down a healthy, happy dog.

On most husky farms the dogs are a business first, so older, lazier or troublesome dogs are 'retired' at the vets. Our dogs are extended family. At least five, sometimes as many as 25, live indoors with us and sleep around our bed each night, and another five rotate through the guide house. Along the way they get house trained, and we learn which would enjoy life more as a pet than as a working dog.

  • We never put down a dog that is healthy and happy
  • Up to 25 dogs live indoors with the family
  • Adoption rehomes a dog, sponsorship funds a dog's care in-situ at the farm
  • Sponsorship available at a range of levels to suit any budget

Philosophy of Care

The farm has to make money or we could not keep looking after the dogs, but we will not put down any dog that is healthy and happy. It is an unusual policy among kennels, but a dog should not die simply for being too slow to work while it still has a good quality of life.

  • Retired and special dogs: older dogs that no longer run, an epileptic dog and a dog with a heart condition all hang out happily at the farm
  • Daily life: they are walked in summer and play in the running fence
  • Lazier dogs: run as a '7th' dog when a team has only 6, just to keep their fitness up

What this means for our costs

This policy raises our costs, though it is not reflected in our prices. Most people assume all husky farms care for their dogs equally and choose a venue on cost alone. We live in hope that one day people will choose our kennel for the care our dogs are given. Adoption and sponsorship are part of that commitment, and we appreciate your interest in them.
