Long Distance Ski Races in Enontekiö
Enontekiö's calendar of long-distance ski events, headlined by the Lapponia Ski Week and the historic Saami Ski Race from Hetta to Kautokeino.
Enontekiö hosts some of northern Finland's most celebrated long-distance ski events, drawing skiers to hundreds of kilometres of tracks through beautiful Lapland landscapes each season.

Lapponia Ski Marathon and Ski Week
A couple of hundred kilometres of ski tracks lace the landscape around Olos, Muonio, and the Lapponia ski week explores many of them: three days of skiing in great company, with a much-admired medal and diploma for everyone from the race office in Olos.
One 60 km race runs Olos-Keimiöjärvi-Olos, with a 30 km option via Jerisjärvi that day. The 50 km route runs Vuontisjärvi-Pallas-Olos, shortenable to 25 km from Pallas. The grand finale is an 80 km race between Hetta and Olos, reducible to 40 km by starting in Kerässieppi.
Saami Ski Race
Held each Easter, this increasingly popular race follows an ancient mail-delivery path from Hetta to Kautokeino in Norway, along which post once travelled on foot, on skis or by reindeer sled.
The 90 km freestyle race starts from Hetta, the community centre of Enontekiö. The 60 km race starts from Näkkälä, close to the Norwegian border, and the 30 km trip from Siebe. All finish in Kautokeino, and transport from Hetta to the shorter starts is provided. There are classes for men and women, and although the style is free you may ski classic on a groomed track.
