We run car transfers between Hetta and Pallas in the key hiking and skiing seasons for €85 per transfer: we collect your car at one end of the Hetta-Pallas trail and have it waiting at the other, so you can hike or ski point-to-point without retracing your steps.
Meet us downtown in Hetta at the Rysä / Kalasatama (Valkamatie 15, the normal set-off point at the lake) as you set off and we transfer your car to our yard until transfer time. Or drop your car at the farm and we will run you back into town with all your hiking and skiing equipment, ready to go. At the Pallas end we either lock your keys into your car or leave them for you at the hotel or nature centre.
In mid-winter, when the lake is frozen, simply cross by ski. In summer, four companies organise boat transfers across the lake: Tuomo (040 512 9814), Hotel Hetta with set shuttles twice a day (last at 4pm) plus private charters at €50 per shuttle (016 323700), Paavontalo (016 521021) and Hetan Kota (040 0183020). In the transition seasons the ice may be unstable and the water taxis may not yet be running, so check the state of the lake at the last moment.
