Travel to Hetta from Norway
Reaching Hetta from Norway - via Alta (the closest Norwegian airport), Tromso or the scenic drive through the Lyngen Alps and Kilpisjärvi.
After Enontekio and Kittila in Finland, the closest airport is in the tiny village of Alta, in the far north of Norway, 210km from Hetta beside the Arctic Ocean. Nordkapp (the North Cape) lies c. a further 200km on. Hiring a car in Norway is easy, and 'rent a wreck' keeps prices sensible.

Via Alta and Kautokeino
The journey from Alta, through a beautiful gorge and Arctic tundra, takes about 2 hours, passing the Sami capital of Kautokeino, the last village on the Norwegian side, c. 80km from Hetta, with an interesting silver gallery and Sami museum.
Seasonal summer buses run from Alta to Hetta with Eskelisen Lapin Linjat. A connection to Kautokeino, the border village about 40km north of us, is almost always easy, and pick-ups can be arranged from there. Kautokeino towards Inari and NE Norway is harder by public transport unless you hire a car.
Via Tromso and the Lyngen Alps
Flights into Tromso (c. 350km from Hetta) suit those keen to explore one of the far North's most vibrant cities. In summer, morning buses run with Eskelisen Lapin Linjat to Palojoensu in Finland, a road junction c. 20km from our farm, where we can arrange a pick-up or you can connect onwards by bus.
With a hire car you have a beautiful 1.5-hour drive along the Arctic Ocean through the Lyngen Alps and Skibotn to the border town of Kilpisjarvi, then c. 2 hours (c. 170km) across the high-fell tundra to Hetta. A small car ferry through the heart of the Lyngen Alps makes the route even more scenic.
Approaching from the south of Norway
