Hard trails and expert routes
Beyond the graded routes, harder trails link the area's wilderness cabins for experienced riders.
- Hard trails: the Kalkoaivi terrain road and quadbike route to Hirvasvuopio (which has a wilderness cabin) and on to Munnikurkkio
- Expert routes: from Neuhkana to either Hirvasvuopio or Munnikurkkio, and from Saarikoski via Raittijärvi to Munnikurkkio, the latter only recommended for experienced, fit riders
- Exotic option: a mountain bike route climbs from Kåfjord (the fjord east from Skibotn) on the shores of the Arctic Ocean up the 'mountain road' to Guolasjärvi, then follows good terrain and quadbike trails all the way to Somasjärvi, east of Halti, Finland's highest mountain
