Hidden Hetta Hikes
Short and multi-day husky hikes on the 'off-the-beaten-track' trails around Hetta, where you walk attached to your dog by a skijoring line.
For one-on-one time with the dogs, join a short or multi-day hike on the quieter trails around Hetta. Hiking with the huskies is as rewarding as mushing, and the dogs love the change of routine.
Most hikes are best in the snow-free months, though some run in winter with hired snowshoes. Either way, your dog is attached to you by a skijoring line clipped to a waistbelt, so there is no fear of accidentally letting them go.

Jyppyrä was once a place of worship, with small sacrifices made at an ancient seita rock near the top of the hill. Local legend says missionaries rolled the rock into Lake Ounasjärvi in the 1800s to end pagan worship.
The shortest trail through the Jyppyrä Nature Reserve is a circular route from the yard of the Skierri Fell Lapland Nature Centre to the summit of Jyppyrävaara Hill, returning by a well-maintained wooden staircase. Red-painted sun symbols mark the way, with steps, information boards and a rest spot en route. A campfire shelter at the summit gives a fine view over the surrounding fells.
