Husky Guide Internships
Intensive skills-based internships for those wanting to experience mushing or develop professional husky-guiding skills.
We don't offer traditional volunteer roles (apart from for local kids). Instead we run 1 month trainee placements and 3-month + internships (through CAMP Arctica Ltd), alongside 'day in the life of' programmes, relaxed autumn-training weeks and intensive guide-training weeks, all for people who want to experience mushing or build professional husky-guiding skills.
- Intensive, skills-based, theoretical and practical training
- Work alongside guides across all aspects of farm and dog life
- Standard placement 3 months (occasionally 1 month minimum)
- Application procedure to ensure a good fit on both sides

What the internships involve
Every internship combines intensive, skills-based theory and practice, working alongside our guides on everything from basic dog training to safari guiding, food hygiene, safety management, marketing and animal husbandry.
An application procedure makes sure both sides benefit and that you will fit the team. We are frank about what you are getting into: life here is intensely 24/7 dogs, and parts of the work are extremely repetitive.
Placement lengths
The standard placement is three months, occasionally a minimum of one. Longer and gap-year stays have a separate application process and need references. Veterinary professionals and building experts may be accepted for shorter periods than generalists, and well-rounded people who can turn their hand to anything are always welcome.
