Our daily routines

Clients are encouraged to give treats, massages and cuddles and to help groom the dogs. Our multiday safaris start with a night in the farm kota partly so you can meet a wider range of dogs and see what life among so many huskies is really like. Most guests love playing with the pups and walking the old dogs.

So expect to be thrown almost straight into farm life. If you are scared of dogs, just tell us. Keep your distance, or let a couple of really gentle dogs win you over.

Keeping the kennel in top condition

The dog yard is cleaned at least twice a day, more for the pups and for cages holding more than two dogs, straight after morning watering and last thing at night. Visitors often comment on how clean it is.

In summer we rake the running circles so debris doesn't tangle the chains, and we flatten the sand (snow in winter) so no holes or mounds form around the posts. An even surface stops dogs, guides and clients tripping.

Bedding, bowls and maintenance

Straw bedding is checked every few days for cleanliness, dryness and quantity. Stainless steel bowls are washed at least weekly, utensils sanitised after every use, and the food store and dog kitchen deep-cleaned once a week.

Each spring and most autumns we repaint the kennels, replacing windshields and corner pieces through the year. Off duty, the dogs lie in the sun, sleep in their houses or play with toys.
