In Hetta

Cafe Peura, in the Fell-Lapland Nature Centre, opened in 2019 and quickly became a firm favourite, serving excellent set lunches, cakes and waffles from c. 11am - 6pm. The centre sits 2km from town at the base of the ski tracks and the Jyppyrä hike, and the chef rents enduro and E-bikes and runs a bike repair workshop.

The Post Office's Cafe (Erämaakota) doubles as flower shop, regional bakery, souvenir shop and petrol station, with free internet. The Grill, open until 8 or 9pm most days, sells fries, burgers and hot-dogs and stays open when other places close for holidays. Hotel Hetta, on Lake Ounasjärvi, serves food daily and is known for its pizzas. Hotel Jussantupa, opposite the supermarket, serves food daily with an all-day bar and reception. Cafe Silja, the popular reindeer-burger cafe, closed around 2017. Cafe Peura is now the best option.
